Afterlight

Afterlight is a concept study for a gallery-scale light installation: a single gradient wall that shifts from ember to daylight blue, asking how light changes the way people move, pause and feel in a room.

The project

Type: Concept / study
Themes: Space, perception, emotion, experience

Light shapes people. Afterlight imagines a room with almost nothing in it: a long, softly textured wall washed in a slow gradient, a low bench, and a polished floor that carries the colour across the space. The light is the architecture.

The idea

Visitors enter in warm light and drift toward cool. As the gradient moves, so does the mood of the room. People slow down, look up, reach out to touch the surface. The work is less an object than a set of conditions for attention.

The study

The study explores scale, material and pace through a series of visualisations: how a figure reads against a field of colour, how texture catches light at the edge of a wall, and how a single solid form anchors an otherwise empty room.

Notes

Afterlight is an exploratory concept and has not been built. It sits alongside commissioned work as part of an ongoing practice of thinking about light, space and experience.
